Layette Complete (up to size 24 months)

  • 2 Undershirts
  • 2 Soft Washcloths
  • 1 Sweater
  • 2 Cotton receiving blankets
    (26" x 36" hemmed)
  • 2 Gowns or Slippers
  • 4 Cloth Diapers
  • 2 Safety Pins
Wrap items in receiving blankets and secure with safety pins. Check garage sales or thrift shops for good used items. Sweaters can be knitted, which would be helpful. Receiving blankets and washcloths can also be made cheaply by those who like to sew.
Health Kits
(for Lutheran World Relief)
  • 1 hand towel
  • 1 bar new soap (bath size)
  • 1 tube tooth paste, 5-7 ounces
  • 1 metal nail file, or nail clippers with file attached
  • 6 band aids, preferably 1/2 to 3/4 inches
  • 1 washcloth
  • 1 toothbrush
  • 1 comb
Wrap all items in towel and tie securely with ribbon or yarn.
Sewing Kits
(for Lutheran World Relief)
  • 3 yards of cotton or cotton blend fabric
  • 1 package of needles for hand sewing
  • 1 card buttons
  • 1 spool of matching thread
Wrap all sewing notions inside the fabric and tie with string, yarn or a strip of fabric.
School Kits
(for Lutheran World Relief)
  • Pads of Paper, 8 1/2" x 11" ruled
  • 1 pair blunt scissors
  • 1 30 cm. metric ruler
  • 12 sheets construction paper (assorted colors)
  • 1 eraser ~ 2 1/2" long
  • 1 12" x 14" sturdy cloth bag with short cloth handles
  • 6 pencils with erasers
  • 1 pencil sharpener
  • 1 box of 8 or 16 crayons
Thanksgiving Baskets
Fruit baskets are given to our shut-ins in November. Volunteers are needed to bake bread and deliver baskets

Collected 2nd Sunday in November at Thankoffering Service.
Yearly Thankofferings
Yearly "Thankofferings" given by thousands of women of the ELCA are used for:
  • Health and nutrition ministries in the U.S. and developing countries.
  • New congregations in the U.S. and around the world.
  • Radio programs that share the Gospel and provide health and nutrition education.
  • Theological education for pastors
  • Much more!
Women of Zion throughout Thankofferings play a vital role in these ministries.
